The four talisman icons
Four small round slots sit at the bottom-right of the HUD from 165 s onward. They are the most commented-on element of the reveal after the boss — yet the graded record keeps them small: the slots themselves are observed, everything about what they do is inference. This essay reads the pixels first, then turns to the fu/char talisman tradition in Chinese ritual that the design plausibly echoes, keeping the two layers strictly apart.
HUD composition as observed: gourd emblem, three horizontal strips (white/blue/short yellow), four small round slots bottom-right, a larger ring at the far right that lights up during the fire-absorption at 357.5-361.75, plus a long centre-bottom boss bar with a Chinese name during boss fights.

The pixels, first
From 165 s the full HUD is present: a gourd-shaped round emblem bottom-left, horizontal resource strips to its right (typically white, blue and a short yellow layer), four small round slots bottom-right, and a larger ring at the far right that lights up during the fire-absorption beat ( Observed ).
The HUD shown from 165 s is never named by the developer: what is reportable is only 'a gourd emblem' and 'three horizontal strips'; reading them as stamina/mana/health is inference. Inferred
The fire chain itself is observable in two beats: the ground ignites first (352.75 s), then fire is drawn into the weapon (357.50–361.75 s), and afterwards flame clings only at the moment of a swing (362.50 / 363.50 / 363.75 s) ( Observed ). The observable fire chain has two beats: ground/fire source ignites first (352.75), then fire is drawn into the weapon (357.50-361.75), after which flame clings Not found
What must stay inference
Cross-title assumptions must be labelled explicitly: reading the gourd emblem as a Wukong-style healing item, the fire-absorption or taming reads as a spirit-collection analogue system, and the lightning staff as continuation of the prior game's polearm are al Inferred
Every system parameter stays unquantified: the fire-absorption's name, duration and whether a ground fire source is prerequisite, what the gourd emblem restores, what each resource bar means, combo and parry windows, and all damage or frame data are unreadable - the footage ships no numbers whatsoever. Not found
No system name — combat term, skill name, mount, cooking, summon — appears anywhere in the official copy ( Not found ). "Talisman icons" is therefore a descriptive label for four observed slots, not a confirmed game system.
The fu tradition the design echoes
The four-slot reading invites a real folkloric parallel: in Chinese ritual, fu/char talismans and Zhong Kui images are bound together in the written record. A few graded anchors:
Observed
Observed
Inferred
These are historical records, not game evidence: they show that "Zhong Kui + written fu" is an established ritual pairing. Whether the four HUD slots reference it is the studio's to say, and they have not.
