How this archive decides what to print
This is an independent reference archive for Black Myth: Zhong Kui and for the 1,300 year record behind the name. It has no named author: the site carries a single standing, stated below, and every claim it renders points at the dated public record that produced it. What follows is the machinery, not a mission statement.
Five grades, one stamp each
Every entry in the statement ledger receives its stamp from its own data, not from an editor's mood: the grade is derived from the kind of row it is, so a record can never disagree with its own seal. These are the five grades in use.
- Confirmed Confirmed
实证, Confirmed. Game Science published it on its own channels: the microsite at gamesci.cn or the studio's YouTube uploads. 25 entries in the ledger come from official channels; only the words the studio itself printed reach this grade. A founder's remark relayed by a trade site is one grade down, even when the quote is genuine.
- Attributed Attributed
引证, Attributed. Carried by named press or trade reporting, or an official line reaching us secondhand. Useful, dated, linked, but never allowed to stand in for a studio statement.
- Reported Reported
存疑, Rumour. Community posts and aggregator pages with no official wording behind them. The ledger holds 2 rows of this kind and 6 sourced from aggregator tiers; a release date that appears here always arrives with a quote from someone who did not make the game.
- Not found Not found
未见, Not found. We searched a named register on a dated probe and it returned nothing: no Steam page or appid (checked 23 Sep 2026), no line in thirteen monthly approval lists (NPPA scan), a rating lookup that ended in a 404 (failed probe, logged as one). 8 entries exist only to say this.
- Denied Denied
否证, Denied. A claim the studio, a registry, or the source text itself has turned back. 4 are struck through and left visible, because deleting a rumour hides the correction.
The rules that run the build
Nothing renders without a source pointer
Every number on this site, including the 53 on this page, is computed at build time from the same JSON files that feed the ledger (63 catalogued images, 51 quoted primary texts). A figure with no row behind it prints nothing at all rather than a placeholder.
A failed search is a finding
Absences are published as dated records with their own entry ids. This matters most before release: a registry appearance is exactly the event that happens without anybody announcing it, and next month one of these negatives will stop being true. The dated negative is the baseline that proves when.
Attribution goes down, never up
A handscroll catalogued by its holding institution as «attributed to» a Tang master stays «attributed to» here, whatever a blog calls it. The same discipline reads backwards into the tradition: the 12th-century imperial catalogue already conceded that the origin of the dream story «cannot be verified», and the archive repeats that limit instead of smoothing it.
Entries age in place
A row is never rewritten to fit a later story. When something changes, a new dated entry is added beside the old one, and the old one keeps the link that was open on its day. The whole ledger is read this way: 10 topics, 47 distinct actors, last reviewed against dated public sources.
What we are not
Not official, not authorised, not affiliated with Game Science; a paraphrase of the studio's position is never printed as though it were one. Not a leak site: nothing here was obtained privately, every game-side line was public on the date it carries. Not a prediction engine: this archive publishes no release-date forecast of its own, only other people's, each stamped with who said it. And not a byline: there is no named author, institutional or otherwise, behind these pages. The identity of the site is its record-keeping, which is why that record-keeping is on this page rather than in an «about the team» paragraph.
Two trees, written twice
The Chinese pages (方法与立场) are not a translation of the English ones. Each tree was researched, structured and written for its own readers: the Chinese ledger keeps the verbatim Chinese wording as the primary text and groups records into 卷 by year, while the English tree carries the Latin transliterations and the method writing. Where the two disagree about what a record emphasises, that is because the evidence reads differently in the language it was written in, and both readings stay visible. Machine translation of a shared skeleton is prohibited by project policy, and the page sets of the two trees do not even match.
Standing, and how to correct us
The site is an independent, non-commercial reference archive. Black Myth: Zhong Kui and its marks belong to their respective owners; historical and artistic material is public domain or openly licensed and credited in place, institution and dating included. Corrections travel fastest by mail with a date and a link: [email protected]. An accepted correction becomes a new dated entry, not a silent edit.
